School 42 was founded in 2013 in France. The educational program is based on the «peer-to-peer» pedagogical method, thanks to which students solve real tasks, implement practical projects, and manage their educational path independently. With this method, more than 95 percent of graduates find high-paying jobs on the market. From Rio to Helsinki and Seoul, there are now more than 44 campuses around the world. In 2020, 42 Yerevan found its place among these cities with the mission of providing Armenia’s IT sector with highly qualified specialists. Thanks to its revolutionary curriculum, 42 Yerevan gives its students a unique opportunity to become programming gurus from scratch.

42 Yerevan is one of the projects of TUMO Labs, which represents the educational direction of the EU TUMO Convergence Center for Engineering and Applied Science.. The complex will be  a state-of-the-art STEM center (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) in Yerevan. As a center of education, research and start-ups, its goal is to establish a connection between local and international representatives in this field, to reduce the gap between higher education and business. The building, with an area of 25,000 sq.m. will be located next to TUMO Center for Creative Technologies on an area of 1.5 hectares. 

Recently, 42’s global network has been included in the list of the WURI Top 100 Innovative Universities alongside MIT, Stanford, and UC Berkeley. 42 is ranked 10th in the list and 1st in the WURI Top 50 for the category of Ethical Value. Universities on this list are ranked based on innovativeness, implement ability, and impact. 

Over the past 10 years, the IT sector in Armenia has shown unprecedented growth, recording an average annual growth of 23%. Over the past two years, more than 20 start-up companies in Armenia have together received 700 million dollars of investment. Armenian start-ups are exempt from taxes on business, and the income tax for employees is 10%. According to 2021 data, the total turnover of IT companies operating in Armenia exceeded 1 billion dollars. As of 2021, the industry employs 29,000 professionals.
